Kolkata Rape and Murder case: Mamata Banerjee denies allegations of threatening junior doctors

August 29, 2024: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday stated that she never threatened the doctors protesting the rape-murder of the trainee doctor at the Kolkata medical college, rejecting BJP allegations.

On Wednesday, addressing a rally of Trinamool’s students’ wing, Banerjee urged the junior doctors at state-run hospitals, who have been on ceasework for 21 days, to return to work. CM Banerjee said she does not want to lodge FIRs against the striking doctors in consideration of their future careers.

The BJP leaders, citing her speech, accused the Trinamool Congress supremo of threatening the doctors, who are demanding justice for the rape and murder of a woman medic at RG Kar Medical College and better working conditions.
