December 30, 2024: The verdict on actor Allu Arjun's regular bail petition in connection with the tragic stampede during the screening of Pushpa 2 has been postponed. A Hyderabad court, which was hearing the case, announced that it will deliver its decision on January 3, 2024.
Allu Arjun is under investigation following the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman in a stampede at a theatre during the release of Pushpa 2. The Chikkadapally police have filed a counter-affidavit opposing the actor's bail plea, while Arjun's legal team presented arguments for his release. After hearing both sides, the court decided to delay its ruling until the new year.
The case has drawn significant media attention, with debates surrounding the incident gaining momentum. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, an actor-turned-politician, has publicly commented on the controversy surrounding the incident. Kalyan expressed his disappointment that what could have been a manageable situation turned into a "huge disaster."
He also emphasized the need to respect fans and praised the leadership qualities of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, highlighting his rise from humble beginnings and contrasting it with the policies of the YSRCP. Kalyan defended the decision to allow an increase in ticket prices for special benefit shows, acknowledging that the presence of popular actors like Allu Arjun naturally excites fans.
On the issue of the Pushpa 2 screening tragedy, Kalyan admitted that he was not fully informed about the events leading up to the incident. He also noted that he does not frequent cinema halls often, adding that the audience’s reaction to a film is often based on its quality.
The court's upcoming verdict on January 3 will determine whether Allu Arjun will be granted bail or remain in custody as the investigation into the stampede continues.
