Haryana BJP in Crisis as Key Leaders Quit Over Denied Poll Tickets

SEPTEMBER 6, 2024- Just a day after BJP released its first list of 67 candidates for the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections, internal strife has erupted within the party. Energy and Jails Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala and MLA Lakshman Dass Napa, both denied tickets, have resigned from the party in protest. Chautala, citing his legacy as the son of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal, announced his candidacy as an Independent, while Napa, after meeting with former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has declared his intention to join Congress.

Adding to the chaos, former minister Karan Dev Kamboj has stepped down from his position as the state president of BJP’s OBC Morcha after being passed over for candidacy. These high-profile departures are seen as significant blows to the BJP's electoral prospects in the upcoming assembly elections.
