Bomb Threats Disrupt IndiGo Flights from Mumbai, Prompting Immediate Security Response

October 14, 2024: Two IndiGo flights departing from Mumbai received bomb threats on Monday, leading to immediate safety protocols being enacted by authorities. Flight 6E 1275, bound for Muscat, and flight 6E 56, headed to Jeddah, were both targeted, causing significant concern among passengers and crew.

An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the incidents, stating, “As per protocol, the aircraft were taken to isolated bays, and following the standard operating procedure, mandatory security checks were promptly initiated.” This swift response aimed to ensure the safety of everyone on board and at the airport.

The bomb threats come on the heels of an earlier incident involving an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York, which was diverted to Delhi following a similar threat received via a tweet shortly after takeoff. The flight, which departed around 2 am, was redirected under the guidance of the government’s security regulatory committee.

These incidents raise ongoing security concerns, particularly following a wave of threats earlier this month. On October 5, both Vadodara and Rajkot airports in Gujarat received bomb threats via email, prompting thorough security sweeps that involved bomb squads and canine units.
