January 2, 2025: A devastating explosion rocked the MS Agarwal Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district late Wednesday night, leaving six workers injured. The blast occurred around 10:15 PM in the Pennepalli area and caused widespread panic among local residents.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with a massive fireball erupting from the plant, followed by a series of smaller explosions. The impact was so intense that it shattered windows and caused structural damage to buildings in the vicinity.

Initial reports suggest the explosion was caused by a boiler malfunction. The injured, primarily laborers contracted to the plant, were immediately transported to government hospitals in Nellore and Nayudupeta for medical treatment. Their conditions remain unclear.

The steel plant has been temporarily shut down as authorities investigate the cause of the blast. Local officials have assured the public that safety measures will be reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Residents in nearby villages reported being jolted awake by the explosion, which sent shockwaves through the area. “The noise was deafening, and the ground shook like an earthquake,” said a local resident.
