September 18, 2024: Reports indicate that Udhayanidhi Stalin, the current Sports and Youth Welfare Minister of Tamil Nadu and son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, is poised to be appointed as the state's Deputy Chief Minister. Sources suggest that the official announcement could come within the next 24 hours.

Earlier this month, CM MK Stalin hinted at his son's potential elevation during a press conference prior to his visit to the United States. The discussion surrounding Udhayanidhi’s promotion gained further traction when Tamil Nadu Minister Rajakannappan mistakenly referred to him as the Deputy Chief Minister in August, later clarifying that such a title could only be used after August 19.
