Ajay Jadeja Named Heir to Jamnagar Throne, Embraces Role on Dussehra

October 12, 2024: In a historic announcement, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has been named the next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, also known as Jamnagar, in Gujarat. The declaration was made by the current Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja, in a letter shared with the media.

The announcement coincides with Dussehra, a festival celebrated for the triumph of good over evil, which Maharaja Shatrusalyasinhji described as an auspicious occasion. "Today, I am equally happy, as I have found a resolution to one of my dilemmas thanks to Ajay Jadeja, who has accepted to be my heir," he stated.

The Maharaja expressed confidence in Ajay's ability to serve the people of Jamnagar, stating, "Ajay Jadeja taking up the responsibility of serving the people of Jamnagar is truly a boon for its people. I express my sincere gratitude to him."

Ajay Jadeja, who was born into the former Nawanagar royal family, has a distinguished cricketing lineage. His relatives, K Ranjitsinhji and KS Duleepsinhji, are celebrated figures in Indian cricket, with the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy named in their honor. This royal connection adds a significant layer to Ajay's legacy, as he transitions from the cricket field to a role of public service.
