October 15, 2020: In an operation carried out by CID officials of Assam Police, cash worth 25 lakh rupees seized from the residence of Joydeb Barua in Chandmari, Guwahati on Wednesday night.

Barua is an employee of Bhargav Group of Company and an associate of former DIG PK Dutta - who is one of the prime accused of SI exam scam.

The seized money is same which Dutta had collected from the candidates and later gave Barua to hide at his place.

It may be mentioned that Barua was earlier arrested in Tinsukia a couple days back. Following his arrest he tested positive for COVID-19 and was undergoing treatment. On Wednesday the court sent him to CID’s custody for five days.

Based on Barua’s confession raid was conducted at his rented place in Chandmari’s Nabagiri path and the money was seized.

Investigation on the SI exam scam is going on in full swing in the state with operations being carried out in various regions of Karimganj.
