January 25, 2021: In a move to generate awareness among the young voters for effective participation in the electoral process for a stronger democracy, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on the occasion of National Voters’ Day called upon the young and first time voters to exercise their franchise for a more meaningful and participatory democracy.



In a message, the Governor said, “India is the largest democracy of the world and conducting election in a free and fair manner requires spontaneous participation of voters of all age groups especially the young voters in the election process.  On the other hand, for a vibrant democracy, participation of all electors in the election process is very much important. The goal for ethical voting  can be achieved only when the voters become more aware and informed on the election process. Observing the National Voters’ Day throughout the country will definitely carry the message of Election Commission for a free and fair poll to strengthen our vibrant democracy."
