July 27, 2022: Eminent writer Atulananda Goswami breathed his last at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at the age of 89 years.



He was diagnosed with sepsis with metabolic encephalopathy and undergoing treatment at GMCH for many days.



The storyteller, translator, and novelist Goswami was born in 1935.



In 2013 Atulananda Goswami was awarded Assam Valley Literature Prize. In 2006, Sahitya Akademi Banta won the award for ‘Cheneh Jari Ganthi’. Goswami’s ‘Naamghariya’ is now a timeless novel.



He was also been involved in the translation of many English, Bengali, and Oriya texts into Assamese, and Assamese into English.
