May 3, 2023: Bir Lachit Sena Leader Shrinkhal Chaliha on Wednesday arrested again under the National Security Act (NSA) by the police near the gate of Sivasagar Jail in Assam immediately after his release.

The leader was arrested in an extortion and abuse of businessman case in Sivasagar. Chaliha was granted bail by the Sivasagar’s Chief Judicial Magistrate court on Tuesday.

Reportedly, Shrinkhal Chaliha entered a business establishment in Sivasagar where he allegedly abused and spitted on the face of a businessman during verbal clash and left the place. Later, he was arrested and put under house arrest by the Sivasagar Police.

The incident came to light on April 28 after a video went viral on social media.
