May 27, 2022: The prime accused of Batadrava Police Station Arson has been arrested by Assam Police on Thursday night.

Alauddin was arrested from Darrang District’s Dhula in a joint operation carried out by Nagaon Police and Darrang Police. Reportedly, he was chased for about 6 km and then finally nabbed by the police.

The accused Alauddin was the mastermind behind the Batadrava police station arson which took place on May 21, when an enraged mob of villagers attacked the said police station and set it on fire after a youth died in custody. Prior to the incident many cases were filed against him at the police station.

It has been suspected that he planned the attack on the police station to burn his case files.

Two of the policemen were injured and three police vehicles were set on fire in the attack.

Following the incident, Nagaon District Administration on May 22 demolished houses of five families who were allegedly involved in setting fire to Batadraba Police Station.

Earlier police had arrested 8 people and detained in connection to the Batradava Police Station Tense.
