May 25, 2022: Two more people have been arrested by police in connection with Batadrava Police Station Arson that happened in Nagaon District of Assam on Saturday, May 20.

So far, police have arrested 8 people and detained 22 people in connection to the Batradava Police Station Tense.

On May 22, Kumud Gogoi, the Officer-in-charge of Batradava Police Station was suspended after primary investigation on the incident that took place on Saturday where an enraged mob attacked the police station and set it on fire over the alleged death of a youth.

On Friday night (May 20), police had detained a youth namely Safikul Islam and had allegedly demanded a duck and cash of Rs. 10,000 from the youth. When the youth failed to comply with the demand the police reportedly attacked him. The dead body of the youth was recovered from the Nagaon Hospital’s morgue.

When the news of Safikul’s death spread in the area, an enraged mob of hundreds of people attacked the police station and set the whole station on fire.
