September 14, 2023: In a joint operation carried out by Special Task Force (STF) and Assam Police, half kg of gold was seized from a vehicle near the Jorabat area in Guwahati on Thursday.

Reportedly, four smugglers including a woman have also been detained for involvement in the smuggling. The smugglers have been identified as Bhiru Singh, Enayak Ali, Jannat Begum and Mohammad Yusuf.

According to reports, the vehicle was stopped when it was on its way from Meghalaya to Rajasthan. The driver of the vehicle Bhiru Singh originally hails from East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
