July 19, 2021: Assam government on Monday said that 5 districts – Biswanath, Sonitpur, Golaghat, Lakhimpur and Jorhat would continue to be under total lockdown for another week starting tomorrow 5AM. 



Curfew has been relaxed in Morigaon and Goalpara (these two districts were under total lockdown).  “In these 2 districts all shops to close by 12 noon. Only grocery shops will be open till 5PM.,” Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said announcing the new SOP that will come into effect from tomorrow.





The curfew timings have been left unchanged in Kamrup, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Nalbari, Baksa, Bajali, Karimganj, Darrang, Nagaon, Hojai, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Cachar, Karbi Anglong, Dhubri, South Salmara, Majuli, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Udalguri, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Charaideo and Hailakandi. Here the curfew would be from 5AM-5PM.



Ban on inter-district movement continues. People coming in from the neighbouring Northeastern states will have to under Covid tests.

Not more than 10 people have been allowed to gather at weddings and funerals.





The Muslim community has been requested to hold their Namaz for Eid (on July 21) at their homes. Only five people have been allowed to perform the Eid Namaz at the mosques.



Assam recorded 1, 329 cases and 15 deaths on July 18. Kamrup Metro recorded 179 cases, Golaghat recorded 101, Lakhimpur recorded 98 cases and Dibrugarh recorded 95 cases in the last 24 hours, government data showed.
