Fuel prices hiked for 20th consecutive day, petrol crosses Rs 80-mark in Delhi

June 26, 2020: For the 20th consecutive day today, diesel price was hiked by 17 paise a litre. Petrol price too has gone up by 21 paise a litre. In the current phase of rate hike, petrol has gone up by ₹8.87 a litre while that of diesel has gone by a higher margin of ₹10.80 a litre.



In the national capital, the price of petrol was increased to Rs 80.13 per litre with effect from 6 am from Rs 79.92 per litre, and the rate of diesel was raised to Rs 80.19 per litre from Rs 80.02 per litre, according to the reports.



Over 12 top cities are now paying Rs 80 or more for a litre of petrol. Meanwhile, Jaipur and New Delhi are the two cities which are paying in excess of Rs 80 for a litre of diesel.

However, the diesel prices continue to remain high in other top cities including Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.



The sharp increase in fuel prices in India comes at a time when global oil markets are performing weakly due to tepid demand outlook and fears about another supply glut.
