July 27, 2020: After banning 59 Chinese apps, the government has banned 47 apps that are clones of these banned apps including TikTok.



The government, in a fresh order has banned clone apps include Tik Tok Light and Cam Scanner Advance besides 45 others.

It was barely a month ago that the IT ministry had banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, UC Browser, Cam Scanner etc. The government said that the apps were banned considering privacy and safety concerns.



The move came weeks after Indian and Chinese forces clashed in Ladakh frontier leading to tension along the border.
