April 9, 2021: India reported more than 1,31,968 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry on Friday.



With these additional cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 1,30,60,542.



With 780 new deaths, the death toll in India has gone up to 1,67,642. There are 9,79,608 active cases in the nation as of now.



Furthermore, 61,899 people were discharged after recovery on Thursday, taking the nationwide recovery tally to 1,19,13,292.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 13,64,205 samples were tested on Thursday. A total of 25,40,41,584 samples have been tested so far.



Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 9,43,34,262 people have been vaccinated across the country till now.
