July 19, 2020: Amidst speculations over the fate of the Congress government in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has called on Governor Kalraj Mishra on Saturday evening.

The meeting has fuelled speculation that the Governor could call a floor test next week.

The meeting came a few hours after two MLAs from the Bharatiya Tribal Party offered to support Gehlot, increasing the number to 103.

It is speculated that the CM had discussed about convening a session of the assembly as early as next week to showcase his strength on the floor of the house.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has sought a report from the state government on the phone tapping scandal.

The Congress, on Friday had cited an alleged audio conversation between Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and rebel Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma conspiring to dethrone Ashok Gehlot.

The MHA action came after BJP lleged that the phones of opposition leaders were illegally tapped.

Gehlot claims to have support of 109 MLAs while rebel Sachin Pilot camp claims having 30 MLAs in the 200-member house.
