June 23,2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will announce its decision to the Supreme Court on the remaining Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in 29 subjects in the next two days.
The court scheduled the next hearing for June 25 at 2 p.m. It will consider separate petitions filled by parents of both CBSE and ICSE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations) students.
Advocate Rishi Malhotra, for petitioners who are worried parents, said the students were worried about the uncertainty caused by the pandemic. A group of parents has sought quashing of a notification for conducting the remaining Class X and XII exams in July. They have asked for students to be awarded marks based on an internal assessment or in line with marks allotted for practical exams.
The CBSE has decided the fresh schedule of board exams from July 1-15 to ensure that they are completed before competitive examinations. While engineering entrance exam JEE-Mains is scheduled from July 18-23, medical entrance exam NEET is to be held on July 26.
