August 22, 2020: In an unfortunate incident, a 6-year old child was killed in a leopard attack on Friday evening in Guwahati. The incident happened at Adimgiri hill of Maligaon.

According to police, a leopard attacked the victim, Shivam Kumar while he was playing outside at around 5.30 PM and dragged him towards the jungle nearby. However, as the locals raised a hue and cry, the leopard left the child and entered the jungle.

The child, who was profusely bleeding was rushed to the hospital. But he was declared brought dead. Local people informed that leopards from the nearby jungle often stray into the area. But they alleged the forest department did nothing in this regard despite repeated requests.
