September 10, 2020: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi on Thursday criticized the All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabatldi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) for their not responding to his appeal for a common political party of all anti-CAA forces.

Gogoi, while talking to reporters at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) said, “It’s surprising that the AASU and AJYCP have not yet said a single word on a common party. I am shocked at the stand of AJYCP. From the latest statements, it seems some people are keen to give the BJP a walkover.”

On the possibility of him contesting the election, the jailed KMSS leader said that he will decide on it after discussing with his mother, wife and his son.

Akhil Gogoi, lodged in jail since December for anti-CAA protest, is undergoing treatment at the GMCH for various ailments.

Few days ago, Gogoi made an appeal to KMSS, AASU, AJYCP and all other anti-CAA forces to come under one party, one name, one flag. He said that if done so this would create a political storm in Assam.
