Guwahati: Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass declared he would quit politics if Congress secures more than 50 per cent of the seats in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
The statement came during a key meeting at Vajpayee Bhavan in Guwahati on Thursday, where BJP Assam Pradesh leaders and spokespersons convened under his leadership to chart their course for the polls.
The discussions zeroed in on campaign strategies, rural development, and voter engagement.
Dass stated ensuring proper housing for all, phasing out makeshift shelters, and building sustainable rural communities would be their priority.
While acknowledging the challenge of winning every seat, Dass stressed the party’s determination to maximize its tally.
He claimed that the Panchayat elections is a “semi-final” for the forthcoming Assembly elections, signaling a calculated buildup to future contests.
