NIA Conducts Searches in Jammu and Kashmir Linked to Reasi Terror Attack

September 27, 2024: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched an extensive operation, conducting searches at seven locations across Jammu and Kashmir in relation to the deadly terror attack in Reasi that occurred on June 9. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and left 41 others injured when terrorists opened fire on a bus en route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra.

The NIA took over the investigation on June 17, following directives from the Union Home Ministry. The attack unfolded when the bus, traveling from Shiv Khori temple to Katra, was struck by gunfire, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a deep gorge near Teryath village in Reasi's Pouni area. Among the casualties were a two-year-old boy from Rajasthan and a 14-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the tragic impact on families from various regions.

To date, one individual, Hakam Khan from Rajouri, has been apprehended for allegedly providing critical support to the terrorists, including food, shelter, and logistical assistance, as well as helping them scout the area prior to the attack.

NIA teams have been actively conducting searches in the Rajouri and Reasi districts since early this morning. Authorities have indicated that the operation is ongoing, with further developments expected as investigations progress.
