ED Raids AAP MP Sanjeev Arora's Residence in Money Laundering Probe

October 7, 2024: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted significant raids on the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora on Monday, as part of an ongoing investigation into a money laundering case linked to alleged land fraud.

Sources indicate that the raids were executed at multiple locations associated with Arora in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The allegations against Arora involve the illicit transfer of land to his company, raising serious questions about the integrity of the transactions.

In response to the raids, Arora addressed the media, stating, “I am a law-abiding citizen and am not sure about the reason for the search operation. I will cooperate fully with the agencies and ensure all their queries are answered.” His statement reflects a commitment to transparency amidst the unfolding legal scrutiny.

The AAP has rallied around Arora, with senior party leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia voicing concerns over the timing and nature of the raids. He took to X, asserting that the actions against their MP, who is also a businessman, are part of a broader strategy to undermine the party.

Fellow AAP leader and Rajya Sabha colleague Sanjay Singh reinforced this sentiment, declaring that attempts to intimidate leaders like Arora will not diminish the resolve of the Aam Aadmi Party. “These raids cannot break the courage of Aam Aadmi Party leaders,” Singh asserted, emphasizing the party’s commitment to standing firm against what they perceive as political harassment.
