August 13, 2020: Garga Chatterjee, who is accused of making derogatory comment against great Ahom King Sukapha, has faced another legal setback on Thursday.
Chatterjee, who is facing a non-bailable warrant had approached the High Court seeking a stay on the warrant. However, the court on Thursday rejected his plea.
The High Court also asked the Crime Branch of Assam Police to file the chargesheet within September11. Chatterjee is facing a Crime Branch case 10/20 after he made some derogatory comments about the Ahom community and great Ahom King Sukapha few months ago. A team of Guwahati Police went to Kolkata to arrest him following an order from Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. However, the team had to return empty-handed as they failed to trace his whereabouts.
