August 10, 2020: With only 5 days remaining for the 74th Independence Day, Guwahati is gearing up to celebrate the occasion despite the Covid restrictions. Preparations are going on at the Judge's Field for this.

It is nearly after 15 years that the Independence Day parade is to be held at the historic Judge's Field. As Khanapara ground is converted into a Covid facility, the administration has shifted the venue to the Judge's Field.

This time, the celebrations will be in a restricted manner due to the Covid situation. Unlike earlier occasions, there will be no parade of NCC and schools.

For the Independence Day, security in and around the city has been tightened and all the entry and exit points are sealed.
