July 29, 2020: In an operation carried out Crime Branch of Assam Police, a huge amount of unaccounted cash amounting to 74,05,600 lakh rupees was being seized from an apartment in Solapara region of Guwahati’s Paltan Bazaar on Tuesday night. 

Based on an input about presence of narcotic substance an operation was conducted in 4th floor of Kalachini Apartment, Solapara. During the operation in the apartment premises of one Sangita Laishangbam – who hails from Manipur.

During the search the unaccounted cash suspected to be utilized in financing of illicit traffic of narcotic substance was recovered and duly seized.

Police have arrested three persons including Sangita Laishanbam in this regard.

It may be stated that Sangita Laishanbam was earlier arrested in Basistha PS case no 449/19; U/S- 22 NDPS act where she was found in possession of narcotic substance.

Further, she was constantly in touch with known drug peddlers, and was suspected to be supplying drugs to one Tashur Ali who was arrested in Bharalumukh PS case no 315/2020; U/S _ 22 (B) NDPS  act.
