August 17, 2020: The City Buses operating on Basistha and Khanapara route via GS road remained off road on Monday. Though the city bus service resumed from Monday, the buses on these two routes didn’t ply in protest against a government decision.

The administration has set rules that city buses running on these two routes will go to Jalukbari via Rajdhani Masjid and GS Road. But they can't take the same route on their return trips. While returning, they will have to come via NH-37. The bus drivers alleged that with 50% seating capacity, following the instructions will not be financially viable for them.

Moreover, the city buses are also asked to obtain permission before plying on these routes. The drivers and staff fumed that if that order is to be followed, most of the buses will again become idle. There are over 300 city buses that operate on these two busy routes.
