November 20, 2020: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is likely to get less seats to contest in the next Assembly polls. This has been hinted by several BJP leaders.
The BJP general secretary and Mangaldoi MP Dilip Saikia on Saturday termed the demands by AGP seeking specific numbers of constituencies as irrelevant and said that things would get clear at proper time.
BJP state president Ranjit Kumar Dass too said that in many constituencies having AGP MLAs, the regional party has not one Panchayat member or president. BJP will definitely contest in such seats, he informed.
On the other hand, AGP president Atul Bora, when asked about BJP contesting in 5 constituencies presently represented by the AGP, refused to comment.
