August 11, 2020: Xatradhikar of Majuli's Natun Kamalabari Xatra and noted Vaishnavite scholar Narayan Chandra Goswami passed away on Tuesday. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Guwahati. He was 80.

He was suffering from prolonged illness. He is known for his works on Vaishnavite literature. He was also an exponent of Sattriya culture.

He was conferred with honorary D. Litt. Degree by the Dibrugarh University in recognition of his contributions. He was also honoured with of Srimanta Shankardev award, Shankardev Shilpi Sadhana award and Xatra Ratna Award among others.
