August 19: The number of total Covid-19 cases in Assam crossed 80,000 on Tuesday with fresh 2534 cases detected during the day. With this, the total number went up to 82,201.

Of these, Kamrup(M)- 498, Dibrugarh-267, Cachar-244 and Kamrup(R) recorded 145 cases.

The death toll too increased to 203 as 6 patients succumbed to the virus. Those who lost life on Tuesday are Sunandaram Deka (69) and Bikrant Singh Chetri (31) of Kamrup-R; Gour Gopal Biswas (72) of Kamrup-M; Saif Uddin (39) of Karimganj; Subhash Chandra Acharjee (75) and Pradip Kumar Singha (55) of Cachar.

On Tuesday, 1560 patients were discharged from various hospitals leaving the total number of active cases at 23,701. The total discharged patients' number is 58,294.
