August 14, 2020: A cattle smuggler was injured in clash with police in South Salmara of Dhubri district in the wee hours on Friday. The incident occurred when a group of cattle smugglers tried to smuggle two boat loads of cattle to Bangladesh via the Brahmaputra river.

Acting on a tip-off from Dhubri SP Anand Mishra, a team of Dhubri Police launched an operation in the Brahmaputra river. They noticed two boats carrying cattle sailing towards the Bangladesh side. When challenged, the smugglers tried to escape from the boats. Then the police team fired at them, injuring one of them.
