Aug 4, 2020: Assam recorded over 2000 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours while 4 more deaths were reported from across the state. The state's total Covid case tally has crossed 45,000.

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma tweeted that 4 lives were lost on Monday due to Covid-19. The deceased are Subrata Patra (45): Kamrup M); Haren Mahanta (65), Sivasagar; Sukendra Kumar Tanti (53), Tinsukia) and Madan Dutta (80), Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, 2371 new Covid-19 cases were detected out of 41,958 tests conducted in last 24 hours. Of these, Kamrup (M): 414, Dibrugarh- 282, Nagaon- 251 and Kamrup (R)- 192.

Altogether 1,044 patients were discharged from various hospitals of the state. With this, the number of total patients went up to 45, 275 with 33,428 discharged patients and 11,735 active patients.

The state's positivity rate as on Monday was 5.65%.
