September 23, 2023: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) confiscated the properties of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in Chandigarh and Amritsar on Saturday.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is one of the main leaders of the Khalistan movement, which advocates for a religion-based separate state carved out from Punjab and many neighbouring areas in India. He is the legal advisor and spokesperson for Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).

The decision of confiscating the properties of Pannu came after diplomatic row between India and Canada over the issue of the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He was shot dead by some miscreants outside a gurdwara in Canada. Nijjar was one of the most-wanted terrorists in India for his alleged involvement in terror activities in the country.
