February 14, 2023: New Zealand declared a national state of emergency on Tuesday after cyclone Gabrielle which caused heavy flooding, landslides, and huge ocean swells.



Many people have been stranded on the rooftops.



According to some sources, the state emergency will imposed in the six regions like Northland, Auckland, Tairawhiti, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Hawkes Bay.



Taking to Twitter, Steve Hanke said, “New Zealand has declared a National State of Emergency as Cyclone Gabrielle has caused widespread flooding, landslides, and ocean swells across the island. This is the third National Emergency in NZ's history (2011 earthquake and COVID-19 pandemic).”
