August 28, 2023: After Chandrayaan-3‘s successful mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch India’s first sun mission Aditya-L1 PSLV XL rocket on September 2nd 2023 to study the Sun from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
Taking to X, ISRO tweeted, “The launch of Aditya-L1, the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun, is scheduled for September 2, 2023, at 11:50 Hrs. IST from Sriharikota. Citizens are invited to witness the launch from the Launch View Gallery at Sriharikota”.
ISRO said that the spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around the L1 point between the Earth and the Sun where it will study the solar atmosphere, solar magnetic storms and its impact on the environment around Earth.
