September 21, 2023: India on Thursday suspended the visa services for Canadian citizens amid growing diplomatic row between both countries.
The issues between both countries grew up after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that the Indian Government played a major role in killing the Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was the chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and one of India's most-wanted terrorists was shot dead on June 18 by two unidentified gunmen outside a gurdwara in Surrey in the western Canadian province of British Columbia.
Later, India expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a reciprocal move after Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly informed that an Indian diplomat in Canada was expelled over allegations of the country’s involvement in killing the Khalistani leader.
However, India rejected the allegations as “absurd and motivated”.
India on Wednesday advised its nationals and students residing in Canada to exercise utmost caution in view of anti-India activities in some parts of that country.
On the other hand, another Khalistani-linked Gangster Sukhdool Singh was shot dead in an inter-gang rivalry in Canada’s Winnipeg city on Wednesday night. Singh, who belonged to Moga in Punjab, was the top aide of Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla of the Khalistan Tiger Force.
