December 16, 2020: Kabul’s deputy governor and his assistant have been killed in IED blast in Afghanistan, police said.



Deputy Governor Mahboobullah Mohebi was travelling to work on Tuesday with his security guards when a bomb attached to his vehicle detonated, the interior ministry said.



The bombing took place in the Macrorayan neighbourhood of Kabul.



No group has claimed responsibility for the blast in which two of Mohebi’s guards were also injured.



Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, condemned the attack and said the recent increase in attacks across the war-torn country is a clear enemy of the Afghan peace process.
