August 31, 2023: At least 58 people have died after a fire broke out at a five-storey building in the South African city of Johannesburg. The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Around 40 people have been injured and treated on the scene. The injured people were also transported to various healthcare facilities for further treatment.

Though fire tenders reached the spot, it took time to douse the fire. The reason behind the fire is not known yet.
