July 1, 2020: Day after the government of India announced a ban on 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, the Bytedance-owned short video app, India’s alternative Chingari has witnessed over 1 lakh downloads per hour.



The app has been developed by Sumit Ghosh, Biswatma Nayak, and Siddharth Gautam, mobile application developers from Chattisgarh, Odisha, and Karnataka respectively.



Chingari has so far witnessed over 35 Lakh downloads, according to the app's official Twitter handle.



Chingari has features like trending news, entertainment news, funny videos, video songs, wishes, love quotes, status videos for WhatsApp etc. and over 10,000 creators are making entertaining content using this platform every day.



The app also rewards the users on the basis of how viral the video becomes. Chingari app can be downloaded through Google Play Store and Apple App Store.



The app is available in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
