May 16, 2022: Lawyers surveying the Gyanvapi mosque have claimed that a shivling had been found in a well inside the premises of the mosque in Uttar Pradesh. A civil court has issued an order to seal the area and prohibit entry of people in the area.
The shivling is 12 feet by 8 inches in diameter. An advocate from the Hindu side, Madan Mohan Yadav, claimed that the shivling is Nandi faced.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is likely to hear the Anjuman Intazamia Masjid Committe's appeal against the Varanasi Court's order directing survey of Gyanvapi mosque.
