January 7, 2022: A proud moment for Assam.  Project GOALMART, brainchild of Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka, has won the Gold Award at the National e-governance Award ceremony held in Hyderabad today (Jan 7). Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel gave away the awards.



“Glad to bring Assam’s name at the National level as Award selection process had no special reservation for North Eastern states but was an all India fight,” DC Deka said.



DC Deka conceptualised and developed GOALMART during her tenure as DC Goalpara. Goalmart is a fully electronic market which aims to provide an online platform for marketing of the local self-help group (SHG) products. The portal was developed in-house with no extra cost to the exchequer.



The project was selected under Category I – “Excellence in Govt Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation” by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions of the Govt of India.



DC Deka, a Computer Engineer and MBA in Systems and Operations from IIT Bombay is also handling additional charges of Director, Bodoland Administrative Staff College and Secretary, Bodoland Territorial Council, besides being DC Kokrajhar.



GOALMART initiative had also been lauded by UNDP.
