November 30, 2021: In a recent development, it has come to light that the drunk old man involved in the accident whom Animesh Bhuyan was trying to help is the father of the main accused Niraz Das alias "Kola Lora".

When Animesh and his friends had tried to help him, the old man - Mohan Das who was in an inebriated state - mistook them and thought to be the ones involved in the accident. Following this the situation got chaotic and a mob gathered.

The mob of around 50 people alongwith Mohan's two sons brutally attacked Animesh and his two friends.

Animesh was the Education secretary of AASU Brahmaputra Anchal (Golaghat Unit).

Animesh along with two others had visited Jorhat for some official work on Monday.

The trio was seriously injured and were rushed to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) where Animesh was declared dead on arrival.

So far police has arrested 13 people including the main accused.
