December 1, 2021: Prime accused of Animesh Bhuyan mob lynching case Niraj Das aka Kola Lora has died.

According to a report, the accused had jumped from a moving car to escape from police custody while misleading the IO and team in the pretext of recovery of NDPS material.

But he was hit by a trailing escort car which got unbalanced and hit the wall. Three police personnel were also badly injured and the car got severely damaged.

Niraj was declared brought dead at JMCH.

The accused was arrested by Jorhat Police on 30 November.

As per reports, Das was hiding in Jorhat’s Borigaon.

Animesh Bhuyan (23) was killed after a mob of 50 people attacked him and two others in Jorhat on Monday, November 29. Animesh was the Education secretary of AASU Brahmaputra Anchal (Golaghat Unit).

Animesh along with two others had visited Jorhat for some official work on Monday. They were brutally attacked by a large mob while they were trying to help people injured in an accident. The mob mistook them to be the people involved in the accident.

The trio was seriously injured and were rushed to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) where Animesh was declared dead on arrival.

So far police had arrested 13 people including the main accused.
