July 19, 2021: Assam ADGP (Border), Harmeet Singh took over as the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati on Monday. The 1992 batch IPS officer took charge from outgoing Commissioner of Police, Munna Prasad Gupta.

Gupta, a 1995 batch IPS officer has been transferred and would now be acting as Addl. Director-General of Police (Vigilance & Anti-Corruption) and Additional Director-General of Police (Administration and M&L), Assam.

Singh has been relieved of his additional charge of Additional Director-General of Police (Administration and M&L).

The changes are part of an order issued by the state Home Department on July 14 announcing several top level changes in Assam Police.
