February 2, 2020: Forest Department officials in an operation seized illegal wood worth about two lakh rupees along with a number of wood cutting machines at Bhandara in Bongaigaon on Sunday.

The officials suspect that the wood was brought from the nearby Manas National Park.

Locals allege that the illegal saw mills in the area have been supplying wood and timber to various places since a long time with the help of a section of corrupt forest officials.
