December 4, 2022: Legendary Brazilian football player Pele has been moved to palliative care at the Sau Paulo hospital after he stopped responding to chemotherapy treatment amid his battle against cancer. He was admitted in the hospital on Tuesday to revaluate his cancer treatment and was later diagnosed with a respiratory infection.

A medical report released on Friday said Pele had an adequate response to an antibiotic treatment and was in a stable condition "with general improvement in health status". Chemotherapy had been suspended and that Pele was under palliative care, and being treated only for symptoms such as pain and shortness of breath.

Pele had general swelling and cardiac issues when he was admitted to the hospital earlier in November. He had a tumour removed from his colon in September 2021 and has been receiving regular treatment ever since.

In an Instagram post on Thursday Pele said that he was at the hospital for a "monthly visit" and thanked his supporters for the positive messages he had received.
