December 6, 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with his top Ministers in Parliament today to discuss the firing incident in Mon district of Nagaland on December 4 night that left 13 people and a jawan dead.



Home Minister Amit Shah would be making a statement in Lok Sabha at 3 PM today and in Rajya Sabha at 4 PM today on the unfortunate incident.



The incident took place when a team of 21 paramilitary forces were on an army operation against Naga insurgents in Mon district on December 4 night, but accidently ended up firing on civilians who are said to be a group of coal miners who were coming from Tiru coal mining area in a pick-up van.



The Mon district police have filed suo moto FIR against 21 paramilitary forces, calling the killings “murder" by the forces. The cops have said that the unit did not ask for a police guide for operations and the “intention was to murder".



Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took part in the funeral held in Mon today. The state government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh and a job to each of the families of the deceased.



The Assam Rifles trooper killed in the violence was a 24-year-old jawan from Uttarakhand.
