July 28, 2021: Within two days of firing and violence seen at the Assam-Mizoram border that left 6 Assam cops and one civilian dead and several injured, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has posted a Tweet showing people from Assam whom the CM has referred to as “brethren” receiving Covid shots at a local church hall and wrote that non-Mizos in the state are at peace and “Northeast will always be One”.





In another Tweet, the Chief Minister has called on everyone to maintain peace and calm and hoped for an “amicable solution” to the border dispute. The Chief Minister is in quarantine after coming in contact with a Covid positive person.





Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Ajay Bhalla held meetings with the Chief Secretaries and DGPs of Assam and Mizoram in New Delhi today.



Home Minister Amit Shah was to meet the Chief Ministers of both the states but the meeting has been cancelled.



The situation in the inter-state border is tense but under control. Four additional companies of CRPF have been deployed at the inter-state border and Assam and Mizoram Police are holding their position. Speaking to the media, newly appointed Cachar SP Ramandeep Kaur said that except for local residents of the area no other people are being allowed in the area.
